| Why Ahimsa? Many people wonder what is Ahimsa? Ahimsa is a Sanskrit term meaning non-violence (literally: the avoidance of violence - himsa). It is an important tenet of the religions that originated in ancient India. When we practice yoga, we try to do it in a non-violent way; we honor our bodies. When we live our lives, we try not to cause harm to any other living being, including ourselves. |
